Safety and data access
More and more processes in hospitals are digitized, becoming critical for daily operation. Think of the volume of data produced by imaging for diagnose, electronic patient files, increasing efficiency demands, need for remote applications and new online client services. In 2002 for example a medium sized hospital produced 170 images per patient per year. In 2007 this number was already 440 images per patient and it is still increasing. This results in rising demand for storage capacity from around 1,5 Terabytes to 10 Terabytes per year for a medium sized hospital. Increasing number of critical processes in hospitals and related laboratories call for centralized UPS systems instead of more common decentralized static UPS systems. Legislation does not obligate use of centralized UPS systems in hospitals yet, but stricter government regulations and client demand will obviously do so in the future. Hitec Power Protection offers diesel rotary UPS systems for new build facilities and Ride Through systems in case a diesel generator set is already installed. By integrating Ride Through in the existing infrastructure full UPS functionality is reached requiring a moderate investment. ![]()
